Accommodations
Stepping below through the companionway, you are immediately welcomed into a prodigiously spacious and inviting interior that exemplifies Oyster’s reputation for luxury bluewater cruising yachts. Finished in rich American Cherry joinery with Oyster’s distinctive ‘Millennium’ styling, the interior combines timeless craftsmanship with practical functionality. Sculpted grab rails, elegant shadow-gap detailing, custom Oyster hardware, and teak-and-holly soleboards create a warm, refined atmosphere throughout.
Natural light floods the interior through seven large deck saloon windows, including two opening forward windows, complemented by opening hull ports that provide excellent ventilation. The result is a bright and airy living space that feels far larger than most yachts in this size range.
Main Saloon
The expansive main saloon serves as the social center of the yacht and is ideally suited for both entertaining and comfortable life aboard. To port, a generous circular settee surrounds a beautifully crafted dining table featuring a burr wood inlay. The table can be configured as either an occasional table or a full oval dining table and incorporates a convenient bottle locker within its pedestal base.
To starboard, an additional settee is complemented by a dedicated bar unit with integrated bottle and glass storage. Thoughtfully placed lockers, shelving, and cabinetry throughout the saloon provide abundant storage while maintaining a clean and elegant appearance.
The salon also comes with an independent air conditioner for added climate control.
Navigation Station & Crew Cabin
Chinook, being a proper offshore yacht, provides a dedicated navigation station with a full forward-facing nav desk located aft to starboard. The large chart table accommodates traditional paper charts and lifts to reveal additional storage beneath. Navigation electronics, communications systems, and the vessel’s primary electrical panels are conveniently located here, while an outboard bookshelf provides easy access to cruising guides and reference materials.
Immediately aft of the navigation station is a versatile cabin that can serve as crew quarters, a sea berth, workshop space, or additional guest accommodation. This area also provides access to the engine room and includes a washing machine and U-Line wine cooler, enhancing onboard comfort during extended cruising.
Galley
Located to port, the pass-through galley is exceptionally well-equipped for serious passagemaking and liveaboard life. Extensive cabinetry and dedicated storage spaces provide room for provisions, cookware, glassware, and galley essentials.
Tuscany Rose Avonite countertops offer both durability and elegance, while twin integrated sinks and a fitted cutting board maximize workspace efficiency. Cooking facilities include a Force 10 stainless steel gimballed four-burner propane stove with oven and grill, a supplemental double-burner induction cooktop, and a stainless steel combination microwave oven. Newly installed refrigeration systems provide separate front-opening refrigerator and freezer compartments, while a built-in waste compactor further enhances practicality for long-term cruising.
Owner’s Stateroom
Located aft for complete privacy, the owner’s suite provides a comfortable and quiet retreat. The stateroom features an offset double berth, a curved settee, dressing table, generous hanging lockers, drawers, and abundant additional storage. A central bookshelf adds character and convenience, creating a space equally suited to extended cruising or full-time living aboard. This cabin includes an air conditioning vent for added comfort and climate control.
The owner’s private ensuite head features Tuscany Rose Avonite surfaces throughout and includes a VacuFlush marine toilet, vanity, and a separate enclosed shower stall.
Guest Accommodations
Forward of the saloon are two well-appointed guest cabins and a shared guest head. Each are appointed with an air conditioning vent for added comfort and climate control.
The port guest cabin features upper and lower berths, a vanity unit, dedicated clothing storage, and a hanging locker, making it ideal for family members, children, or crew.
In the bow, the spacious guest stateroom offers a centerline double berth, vanity area with upholstered seating, extensive clothing storage, and direct access to the foredeck through the forward hatch.
Serving both guest cabins is a spacious shared head featuring a VacuFlush toilet, vanity, and separate enclosed shower compartment.
Comfort & Ventilation
Designed for comfortable cruising in a wide range of climates, the yacht benefits from excellent natural ventilation through opening ports, hatches, and windows. Hella fans are installed throughout all cabins and the galley, ensuring comfortable airflow whether at anchor in the tropics or underway offshore.
With accommodations for up to seven guests in four cabins, two well-appointed heads, extensive storage throughout, and Oyster’s renowned fit and finish, Chinook offers a rare combination of luxury, practicality, and offshore capability that continues to make the Oyster 56 one of the most respected bluewater cruising yachts ever built.

Deck
The Oyster 56 is renowned for combining serious offshore capability with exceptional comfort on deck, and Chinook is no exception. Her deck is constructed with Oyster’s GRP sandwich structure and finished with a beautifully maintained teak deck, professionally refurbished in 2026. The teak-capped bulwarks were also reconditioned in January 2026, including renewed plugs, sanding, sealing, and fastening work, contributing to the yacht’s well-cared-for appearance.
The signature Oyster deck saloon profile provides outstanding visibility from below while creating the elegant lines for which these yachts are known. Wide side decks, substantial stainless steel handholds, sturdy stanchions, and thoughtfully positioned grab rails make moving safely about the yacht easy whether underway or at anchor.
Natural light and ventilation are abundant thanks to opening deck saloon windows, multiple Lewmar deck hatches, Gebo hull ports, and opening portlights throughout the vessel. Dorade vents further enhance airflow while maintaining weather protection for comfortable living aboard in a wide range of climates.
Foredeck
Forward, you will find a removable stainless steel bowsprit and a robust ground tackle arrangement. The primary anchor is mounted on a stainless steel bow roller with chain leading to the Lewmar windlass and directly into the anchor locker, allowing for efficient anchoring operations. Stainless steel bow rails provide security while working on deck and moving forward at sea.
Cockpit
The center cockpit is a standout feature of the Oyster 56, offering a spacious, secure, and highly social environment for both passagemaking and entertaining. Teak decking underfoot, a substantial Whitlock wheel steering system, and the large Athena pedestal create a commanding helm position with excellent visibility.
At the center of the cockpit, a beautifully crafted teak table with folding leaves provides ample space for dining and gathering with guests. Integrated storage and insulated compartments add practicality for extended cruising.
Protection from the elements is excellent thanks to a full sprayhood and bimini arrangement, supplemented by cockpit enclosure panels that can fully enclose the cockpit when desired. All canvas and protective covers are reported to be in good condition, providing shade, weather protection, and comfort in a variety of conditions.
Stern & Transom
The yacht’s stern area has been thoughtfully designed for life aboard. A teak-trimmed swim platform provides convenient water access, while the folding stainless steel swim ladder with teak treads makes boarding from the water easy and secure. An extending hydraulic stainless steel passerelle with handrails further simplifies boarding from docks and marinas.
The swim platform also includes a hot-and-cold freshwater transom shower, ideal after swimming, diving, or beach excursions.
Additional cruising features include custom stainless steel fairleads, robust Whittall dinghy davits, integrated liferaft storage, comfortable pushpit seating, and a spacious lazarette locker fitted with gas struts for easy access. Together, these features create a highly functional stern area.
