Accommodations
Interior
Below and through a wide companionway you will be greeted by a surprisingly spacious main salon that blends classic yacht craftsmanship with practical cruising comfort. Warm teak cabinetry, a teak-and-holly cabin sole, and rich blue upholstered settees create an inviting interior that feels both traditional and bright.
Storage is thoughtfully integrated throughout the cabin – beneath and behind the settees, along wide bookshelf-style shelves with secure sea rails, and in enclosed lockers above – making it easy to keep the boat organized during extended cruising.
At the center of the salon, a folding bulkhead-mounted dining table opens quickly to seat up to four for meals, then folds away to keep the cabin open and uncluttered while underway.
Salon settee, quarterberth, and V-Berth blue velour cushions are original and still in pristine condition, except for a hidden repair under one settee cushion.
Galley
The U-shaped galley to port is well positioned for safe cooking at sea and fully equipped for extended cruising.
Features include:
- Gimballed stove and oven with safety bar/grab-rail, in excellent condition
- Stove fuel sourced from aluminum propane tank with solenoid shutoff, placed in dedicated and ventilated aft locker in cockpit
- Deep in-counter refrigerator/freezer
- Double sink with Grohe faucet
- Multiple teak drawers and large dish storage cubbies
- Abundant galley storage for provisions
Everything is within easy reach, making meal preparation simple.
Navigation Station
Opposite the galley to starboard is a dedicated navigation station, featuring a swing-out seat, central electrical control panel and nav equipment (autopilot, GPS, etc.). This layout keeps navigation equipment organized and easily accessible while remaining integrated with the salon.
Immediately aft is the entrance to the private quarterberth cabin, which can be closed off to create a comfortable, private sleeping space for guests or crew.
Practical Cruising Details
Caliber is known for thoughtful offshore design, and it shows throughout the interior.
- Overhead teak grab rails positioned exactly where needed when moving through the cabin underway
- Convenient engine access via the companionway steps for routine inspection and maintenance
- Companionway steps are detachable to allow for greater engine access
Light & Ventilation
The cabin is exceptionally well ventilated, which is an important feature for warm-weather cruising.
Ventilation includes:
- 2 large dorade vents
- 5 Lewmar overhead hatches
- 13 opening portlights with bugscreens and Zarcor Clozures for privacy
Together these create excellent airflow at anchor or dockside, keeping the interior cool and comfortable.
Lighting throughout the cabin includes LED overhead lights and directional reading lamps, making the space comfortable day or night.
Additional Interior Features
- Hanging locker near the mast for clothing and gear
- Accessible bilge area with Water Witch water level sensor
- Sump system for shower and icebox drainage
- Automatic bilge pump with manual override

Raymarine Autopilot is connected directly to the rudder post and interfaced with a Garmin GPS 76C for a competent and reliable extra set of hands for long passages or single-handed trips. Along with an emergency tiller, it serves as a backup in case of steering cable failure.
Garmin is interfaced with RayMarine Autopilot for route following and display of boat speed, position, and waypoints. Route planning and underway navigation is performed using the Garmin GPS and/or OpenCPN software on a computer (not supplied) at the Nav station or in the cockpit and an extensive collection of Sea of Cortez waypoints and charts derived from Google Earth imagery (a comprehensive set of waypoints is already loaded and mostly cross referenced with identical names in Sea of Cortez – A Cruiser’s Guidebook by Breeding and Bansmer.) |

| Comments |
An upgraded 12V electrical system requires no crew intervention to keep house and start batteries always charged.
Blue Seas panel keeps the two circuits separate but enables them to be combined if needed.
Xantrex Echo Charger feeds current to the 12V AGM starting bank when the charging voltage to the house AGMs is above a certain threshold.
Solar panels mounted above the bimini provide a rated output of 320 watts, ample current to run boat systems and keep the batteries charged for days without running the engine. Main solar panels are removed and stored below decks during summer layup. A small Sunsei panel and separate controller on stern rail keeps batteries fully charged during that time. |

| Comments |
From owner: “Under full main and genoa, vessel easily makes 6+ knots with speeds exceeding 7 under ideal conditions. With the retractable forestay, the genoa is unobstructed while tacking. When the wind picks up and sea conditions become more challenging, matching sail power and boat trim is straight forward with in-mast furling and a self-tacking staysail.” |
Deck
The Caliber 35 LRC deck layout is designed with the priorities of serious cruisers in mind: security underway, efficient sail handling, and safe movement around the boat. Every element on deck reflects Caliber’s reputation for building offshore-capable cruising yachts that are practical for short-handed sailing.
Starting at the bow you will find dual bow rollers on a sturdy bowsprit. The primary anchor – a 15kg Rocna with 228 ft of chain – is controlled by an electric windlass with both controls at the unit and via a rocker switch in the cockpit for fast and easy deployment.
Moving around the deck is safe and secure with thoughtful features such as wide side decks with molded non-skid fiberglass surface, high double lifelines, bow and stern pulpits, and an aluminum toerail that runs the length of the deck – useful for attaching blocks, lines and fenders.
The aft cockpit provides a strong helm position with excellent visibility and a naturally protected seating area. The deep cockpit keeps crew secure while underway, and the layout allows the skipper to manage sails and steering comfortably on longer passages.
At the helm you’ll find a 36″ stainless steering wheel with Whitlock steering system, along with navigation instruments and autopilot controls easily accessible from the helm seat. The cockpit is well shaded by a custom bimini and dodger.
All major sail controls – including halyards, furling lines, and sheets – are led aft to the cockpit, allowing the boat to be sailed efficiently by a small crew or even single-handed.
At the stern, the boat features a sugar-scoop swim platform with shower and integrated ladder, making water access and dinghy boarding easy and safe. The ladder can even be deployed from the water – an important safety feature for swimmers.
