Whitby 42 Ketch

Step aboard the iconic Whitby 42. A seaworthy ketch designed by Ted Brewer and beloved by sailors worldwide, this yacht combines reliability, comfort and performance. With her ketch rig she sails controlled and balanced, even in rough conditions, and incorporates a full keel for extra stability. Built with long-distance cruising and independent living in mind, this vessel is a unique opportunity for those who dream of far-flung destinations.

“Besame Dos Veces” has undergone extensive upgrades over the years, with a dramatic refit completed at the end of 2024. Almost everything was touched, including: chainplates replaced, new stainless-steel forestay, standing rigging replaced with HMPE (“Dyneema”) and main running rigging replaced. The bottom was stripped to gelcoat and re-sealed with epoxy primer and ablative bottom paint. There was a full propulsion replacement: engine, transmission, drive shaft, shaft seal, cutlass bearing, and prop are all new. The macerator and raw water washdown pump were also replaced. (The list goes on – see her full specifications for all details!)

The interior offers everything you need for comfortable trips. There is a cozy saloon, a practical galley with oven, refrigerator/freezer, an incredible amount of storage space, and a functional nav station. There are a total of two cabins and two heads, both of which have showers. The owner’s cabin is located at the stern and can be reached via a passage from the saloon, but also has a separate entrance from the cockpit, giving extra privacy. This ship is surprisingly spacious and offers sufficient storage space for life aboard on long journeys. Or you can just enjoy the outdoors! The cockpit is particularly spacious and is protected from the elements by a fixed spray hood. Ideal when the weather is not so nice, but certainly also nice on warm days to be able to find some shade.

Conveniently located in the gorgeous cruising grounds of San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, this Whitby 42 is robust, forgiving and built for true seafaring life, yet she offers the charm and comfort of a floating home, with character and warmth in every detail. Whether you dream of a Pacific crossing, a circumnavigation, or just long summers on the water, “Besame Dos Veces” is ready for it.
